Adopt a Highway
Intersection of Routes 30 and 443
Robin Myers, Chairperson
Spring Cleanup: April 2016
Fall Cleanup: October 2016
In September of 1991, Schoharie Promotional, under the direction of Dick Young, applied to the Department of Transportation to “Adopt-a-Highway”. Twice a year, Route 30 from the Little League field to the Carrot Barn, and Route 443 from the intersection to beyond the Tory Tavern, gets a thorough cleaning. For almost 30 years, Dick has taken care of coordination with the NYS Department of Transportation, who provides the bags, reflective vests, signs, and pickup of the bagged trash. The pickup generally takes about an hour on a Saturday morning, depending on the number of volunteers. If you’re interested in lending a hand, mark your membership application, and expect a call from Dick in the spring and the fall. We welcome all to show up on pickup day!
